Salud Latina's Services

 

Salud Latina/Latino Health has had the opportunity to work with many clients. We have assisted developing organizations as well as organizations that have been around for many years serving our communities here in Illinois. SLLH has worked with several Community Based Organizations, Faith Based Organizations, Government Offices and many more. SLLH receives grants and funding from organizations like the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Office of Minority Health, and other priviate sectors. As a result of our funding, we are capable of providing our services free of charge to all organizations that meet the criteria clearly defined in our grants. Generally, we provide free services to any non-profit or charitable organization that is either located in a Latino neighborhood, or that has Latinos participating in the congregation membership.

 

SL/Lh is staffed with experienced and knowledgeable individuals that deliver services in the following categories:

Organizational Development

SLLH is well aware that as organizations develop, new challenges emerge, such as:

Resource Development

SLLH has developed one of the most diverse libraries with information about Latino services and research. It has also created tools to assess the appropriateness of culturally sound health education and promotional materials, such as:

  • Tobacco prevention and cessation information materials
  • Teen pregnancy, parenting and prevention education curricula in English and Spanish
  • Articles and research material on Latinos in diverse public health topics
  • Bibliographic reviews on tobacco, HIV/AIDS, STD's, immigration health, family violence and teen pregnancy among latinos
  • Speaker's bureaus on Latino issues

Cultural Competency

the ability to understand people from a different culture is key when communicating. with this in mind, our trainings are aimed to enhance:

  • Provider cultural competency skills
  • Culturally sound interventions
  • Outreach and engagement of Latino Populations
